Over a week long course, Sgt Sophie Knight, who had already qualified as a silver communicator, progressed to the Gold Cyber badge, being the first Greater Manchester Air Cadet to do the new course.
Over the week course at No1 Radio School at RAF Cosford, Sgt Knight and other cadets from across the Corps learnt about online security, network protection, modern day hacking and the history of cyber warfare.
After the week long camp Sgt Knight said: “It was an amazing week learning about protecting systems against cyber attacks and malicious technology. It was a fully hands on cyber course allowing us to protect systems from hacks using the skills we had learnt during the week.”
The Gold Cyber course is now an annual week course allowing more Air Cadets in the Corps to progress a wider knowledge of modern online security.
